Linking Guildford to Weybridge on the Thames a 15.5 mile long waterway, made navigable and open to barge traffic in 1653. The Wey was one of the first in Britain and in 1764 the Godalming Navigation opened. A restored barge in Guildford has an exhibition telling the story of the waterway.
