Greenwich Theatre
The origins of the Greenwich Theatre date back to 1855 and lie in that most popular and universal of British entertainment - the Victorian music hall. Despite many turbulent years the theatre has now been given a fresh start by Greenwich Council. Off-stage facilities have been much upgraded. On-stage new partnerships with producing theatres and top touring companies have been created. The theatre aims to enliven, educate and entertain everyone from office workers to tourists to families. The open thrust stage is ideally suited to musical theatre and will focus on providing a home for new work. Children's events and family shows will also be programmed proving that all ages can come to the theatre - and not just for the pantomime!
