30 Mar-29 June and 5-26 Oct, Sat only. 2 July-28 Sept, Tue-Sat. The only access is by ferry from Orford Quay with boats crossing regularly between 10.00-14.00 and the last ferry leaving the Ness at 17.00. Open throughout the year for pre-booked groups of 12+

This is the largest vegetated shingle split in Europe, visitors can follow a five mile route which can be walked in part or full. From 1913 until the mid 1980s the Ness was a secret military site now an inportant site for breeding and passage birds.
