Out for the Evening?

• Lock all windows and doors , and remove the keys from the lock
• Close curtains
• Leave lights on but not just in the hallway
• Better still, use an automatic time switch

• Leave curtains open
• Move valuables such as the T.V, video and hi-fi out of sight
• Keep Xmas presents away from the windows to reduce temptation
• Lock the garden shed and store ladders inside
• Cancel newspapers and milk deliveries well in advance
• Take valuables to the bank
• Check that all windows and doors are locked and remove keys
• Ask a good neighbour or friend to check the house regularly and to remove the mail and free newspapers that are piling up on the doormat
• If you have an answer phone do not leave a message announcing that you are away
