Shopping on-lineSecurityDon't be put off by stories of card fraud involved in Internet shopping. Stories of card details being intercepted are exaggerated and in reality, very rare. If your details are misused you don't have to pay for the fraudulent transactions. The Banking Code states that if you don't give out your details negligently you only pay the first £50 of any fraudulent transaction - usually you don't even have to pay for that.Buying on-line should be no more risky than mail order or buying something over the phone. You still need to be careful - follow our "Tips for safe shopping" before giving away details.
