Die Fledermaus - Show InformationBaron von Eisenstein delays starting a short jail term so that he can attend a fancy ball. Meanwhile his wife, believing he is in jail, invites her lover to join her in her home.Baron von Eisenstein has been sentenced to prison for a few days, but is postponing the beginning of the sentence for a day so that he may attend a ball at the home of Prince Orlofsky. Doctor Falke, who invited Eisenstein to the ball, wants to avenge himself for a rather unpleasant situation at an earlier ball. As Eisenstein and his wife are at home, their maid Adele receives an invitation to the ball as well, but she makes an excuse to not attend. However, she attends in costume as does her master, Eisenstein and his wife. Eisenstein is amazed at how much the costumed lady resembles his maid. The next day at the jail, there is considerable confusion. In the end, Eisenstein must serve his full sentence in jail. Die Fledermaus is a delightful operatic comedy.
