Count di Luna searches for his brother who was supposedly bewitched by a Gypsy woman.A bewitching, some revenge, the drinking poison and a search for a missing brother all enter into this exciting opera by Verdi.
Count di Luna's brother was supposedly bewitched by a Gypsy woman several years earlier. The Gypsy woman was executed by being burned at the stake. According to stories, the Gypsy woman's daughter kidnapped the boy and burned him at the stake. Di Luna, however, fails to believe such stories and hopes that the boy is still alive.
Di Luna and Manrico both are trying to win Lady Leonora. The Count challenges Manrico to a duel.
The kidnapping of Leonora, drinking of poison and the final identification of the missing brother make up the ending of this operatic story.
