Turandot - Show Information
This final opera written by Pucinni was actually not completed when Pucinni died. Thus, several endings have been written since his death.Turandot was the name of a Chinese princess who asked that any man who wanted to marry her should answer three riddles or be put to death. The prince who decided to try to solve her riddles was Calaf. After going through some trials, he got the answers to her riddles, but she tried to cancel her agreement.
Turandot was a willful princess, guilty of a number of atrocities, one of which forms a subplot in this opera. Despite these atrocities, the story ends on a positive note.
