The Magic Flute - Show InformationThe young prince Tamino, being pursued by a horrible snake, finds himself in the lands of the Queen of the Night.This was the last opera that Mozart wrote, and he evidently thought highly of this masterpiece. He attended many of its first performances with friends. The story revolves around the love and adventures of Tamino and Pamina. Pamina was the daughter of the Queen of the Night. She was taken to the temple by Sarastro, the priest of Isis and Osiris, to become free from her mother's influence. Tamino, however, was sent by the Queen of the Night to free Pamina from Sarastro. The adventures which the couple goes through in their attempts to be together make up the major elements of the opera. Characters which appear include three boys who help the couple, priests, an old woman and armored men. This is a great love story with a happy ending.
