Don Giovanni - Show Information

Don Giovanni attempts to rape the young Donna Anna which leads to a duel with her father, the Commendatore. Don Giovanni ends up a fugitive for the murder of the Commendatore abandonment of the women he has seduced.

This has been regarded as the most perfect opera ever produced. Written by Mozart, this is only one of many operas based on the legendary life of Don Juan.

In an apparent rape attempt, Don Giovanni is caught by Commendatore, the father of the rape victim. Commendatore challenges Don Giovanni to a duel but is stabbed to death by Giovanni. The killer is not recognized as he escapes.

The scenes which follow reveal the nature of Don Giovanni as one who chases many women. In one of the scenes Anna, the rape victim of the opening scene, unwittingly asks Don Giovanni to help her find the man who killed her father. As one of Don Giovanni's former lovers approaches them, Anna recognizes Giovanni as her attacker.

At a wedding, Leporello, who is Don Giovanni's servant, is falsely accused of seducing a woman. It is an attempt to fool people into believing in Don Giovanni's innocence. Giovanni offers money to Leporello to calm him for the accusation.

Don Giovanni and Leporello change into each other's clothing, each pretending to be the other.

The final scene has sometimes been omitted in the past, but it is the pivotal scene for the resolution of the story. The surprise is well worth waiting to experience.
