La Boheme - Show InformationLa Boheme tells the story of the lives and loves of a group of poor Bohemians living in 19th century Paris.Puccini's double love story involves a poet and a seamstress as one couple and a painter and a singer for the other couple. Rodolfo, the poet, and Mimi, the seamstress, find their mutual attractions to each other during a darkened scene in which the candles are snuffed out. Marcello, a painter, and Musetta, a singer, find mutual considerations for each other in a caf scene in Act II. Musetta causes the caf bill to be charged to another man who has been trying to get her to notice and appreciate him. The death scene of one of the ladies who is dying with tuberculosis involves both couples. The major couple in Puccini's version of La Boheme is Rodolfo and Mimi. This opera ranks highly among the top twenty most-performed operas. It is a must-see performance.
