Orchestra of the Age of EnlightenmentThe OAE is much more than one of the world's pre-eminent period instrument ensembles. It works regularly with conductors who specialise in both early music and the modern repertoire, and has explored the work of composers from Bach to Mahler, Handel to Borodin. This concert, in the spirit of the Discovery concerts given by Leonard Bernstein, deconstructs and explores one of Mozart's darkest and most dramatic symphonies, No.40. Conductor Marin Alsop leads the audience through the symphony, using musical illustrations from the Orchestra, before the complete performance of it. Queen Elizabeth Hall
