Kirill GersteinAnother superb young Russian pianist makes his IPS debut this evening. Kirill Gerstein won the 2001 Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv and was named a Carnegie Hall Rising Star in 2005-6. His programme includes dramatic contrasts of emotional darkness and light, with Bach and Schoenberg set against one of Beethoven’s most genial sonatas; the programme culminates with Liszt in both angelic and demoniac adventures.
