About Theatre Royal HaymarketOften called the Little Theatre in the Haymarket, this theatre with seating for 905 was built in 1720. There has been considerable activity here, both on stage and off. Political party satires as well as pressure from the Royal Family caused the Lord Chamberlain to censor all plays here. There was once a stampede of patrons in which several people were crushed to death. When the theatre announced the production of The Tailors in 1805, many who had that occupation protested as the plan would not show their occupation in a good light.
