About St Martin's Theatre

The early history of this theatre reveals that the idea of social issues was the important first productions here. Issues such as homosexuality, venereal disease, insanity, divorce and alcoholism were presented with great frequency. The theatre began its career in 1916 with a rather novel interior decoration theme of waxed wood. The first production was Houp La.

Agatha Christie’s Mousetrap was here, earning its fame as the longest-running play in the world. Other significant productions included The Shop at Sly Corner and Sleuth.

The theatre can seat 550 patrons.
