About Aldwych Theatre
This theatre is associated with The Royal Shakespeare Company as well as "The Aldwych Farces", which played from 1925 to 1933. The theatre is a twin to The Strand which is on the opposite corner. The two theatres stand on either side of the Waldorf Hotel.
For a while during the First World War, the Aldwych Theatre was used by the Australians for their servicemen.
Some more recent productions at the Aldwych include "Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolf", "The Fields of Ambrosia", and "An Inspector Calls".
Designed by W.G.R. Sprague, the first production was "Blue Bell" in 1905.
