Sheffield Theatres

This year the Lyceum has enjoyed the West-end and Broadway productions of West Side Story and Amadeus. In March, Shakespeare in Love actor Joseph Fiennes stars in Edward II at the Crucible; other big names who have performed on the Sheffield stage include David Suchet, Fiona Shaw. The round of the Crucible makes it an exciting space and it hosts some of the best modern theatre. In-house productions are critically acclaimed such as Brassed Off. The Crucible Studio's intimate size makes it ideal for workshops, it also showcases new writing.

The Crucible is known to millions of sports fans all over the world; as every spring, the theatre is transformed by TV and creates the special atmosphere of tension for the Embassy World Snooker Championships.

Comprising of the Lyceum, Crucible and Crucible Studio, Sheffield Theatres is the largest arts complex outside London, its outstanding facilities also including bars, shops and restaurants.

As well as innovative drama, Sheffield Theatres continues to lead the way in challenging an elitist image of theatre. Two years ago Sheffield Theatres launched the How Much? scheme of discounted tickets for 18-25 year olds, on selected shows such as Ben Elton's Popcorn and A Clockwork Orange. It continues to be a huge success, making theatre more accessible.

Prices are reasonable and last minute standby tickets are available on the day of the performance until 6pm; these are currently £6.
