Shopping - More than just Meadowhall.

Sheffield caters for shoppers of all tastes with its large malls, varied markets and exclusive trendy boutiques.

Meadowhall, the largest shopping centre in the country, is just a few minutes away, but Sheffield centre has been enlivened by new investment and there is no need to leave the city.

The stunning Peace Gardens' fountain provides a focal point to the main pedestrian shopping area which includes Fargate, Barkers Pool and down towards The Moor shopping centre. There are branches of chain stores, clothes shops, department stores, cafes and banks and often street entertainers. Ten minutes walk from the centre is Victoria Quays, a recently renovated development by the River Don with designer shops and waterfront bars.

The Devonshire Quarter is a trendy area of designer clothes shops, cafes and bars. It stretches from the City Hall along Division Street to Devonshire Green. The specialist shops range from custom-made contemporary jewellery, Rocky Horror PVC, to 70s afro wigs! At the end of Division Street is The Forum, a centre of about 25 units of designer clothes, gifts, accessories or furnishings. The Forum Café Bar is very popular with DJs and live music most evenings, and now open till 1am.

Exploring the city further (Bus 82) there is Ecclesall Road, lined with bars, cafes and specialist shops. Abbeydale Road (Bus 97) is the home of the Antiques Quarter, and other second-hand shops.
