A delightful well-kept village in a very rural part of north-west Devon. The surounding countryside is unspoilt and retains an old-fashioned character, close to the meandering River Torridge, made famous for 'Tarka the Otter'. Their is a large village square, an ancient Norman Church and the celebrated Devil's Stone Inn, said to be one of the most haunted pubs in the UK. On the outskirts of the village is Shebbear College, a noted public school founded in 1841.The parish enjoys good facilities, including a thriving shop and post office, doctors surgery, primary school and garage. There are a host of clubs and socities for those that wish to participate in village life.
In all, Shebbear is a great place to live or visit, especially if you enjoy the pleasures of peaceful country life.
