Originally a 16th century farmhouse, this friendly country inn is set in its own grounds, overlooking the small town of Blackwood, near Newport, with the Brecon Beacons within easy reach.
Monnington Lodge was once owned by the family of the infamous Captain Henry Morgan. Today, this quaint building is brimming with country charm and its own wonderful unique character, giving you a warm sense of welcome from the moment you arrive.
Just a short distance from some of the region's most beautiful woodland, the lodge is nevertheless within easy reach of the cities of Newport, Cardiff and Bristol.
There are 15 modern en suite rooms, each with tea/coffee making facilities and satellite TV.

The restaurant prides itself on producing home-made food of the highest quality. With excellent food, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere the hotel has proved popular with visitors and local people alike.

There are 2 menus - the main à la carte menu and the lounge menu. The latter typically features traditional home-made dishes, such as steak and ale pie; home-baked ham and parsley sauce; lasagne; and battered cod with home-cut chips and mushy peas. The à la carte menu changes monthly to reflect the finest, freshest produce available locally. The menus are varied and cater for all tastes, with everything from traditional English fare to Mediterranean cuisine and dishes from around the world.
The comprehensive wine list offers a selection of wines to complement your meal, with over 100 different wines available at any one time. The wine list is constantly updated with wines from around the world.
The bar area is the centrepiece of Monnington Lodge and is resplendent in its country inn setting. The bar offers a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including authentic Welsh beers, as well as Guinness and lager. A range of spirits is also available, including a collection of over 15 different scotch whiskies. Soft drinks and tea and coffee are also available.
