Crown and Garter Inkpen Common Hungerford Newbury Berkshire RG17 9QR | | Booking/Check availability | | Offering a friendly, welcoming atmosphere combined with efficient service, during your stay you can enjoy the wonderful menu throughout the Inn, either in the candlelit wood-panelled restaurant area or the bar area close to one of the 3 fireplaces. In the summer you may prefer to dine al fresco on the well-lit large patio or in the traditional beer garden, under the old English Oak. The kitchen serves a full à la carte menu, full traditional roasts on Sundays (booking essential) and lighter bites such as home-baked baguettes and ploughmans. All meals are prepared using the very best and freshest mostly locally sourced ingredients. Menus change on an almost daily basis, reflecting the best produce available. The chef has many years experience; he was classically trained in a Michelin-star restaurant, he then moved onto the Savoy in London and the Hotel Metropole in Monte Carlo France, after which he ran and owned a succession of restaurants and inns. The bar area boasts many unique, historic features. The oldest part is home to a huge inglenook fireplace and criss-crossed beams. The bar serves a fine selection of local and guest real ales, malt whiskies and good wines. It also enjoys free broadband access.
