Minadab Cottage, The
 | With spectacular views over Labrador Bay, this exclusive thatched cottage dates back to the 1820s and has 3 stylish, individually decorated rooms. Minadab Cottage in Teignmouth is a tranquil retreat and has been a coastal landmark for the past 200 years. The cottage is 9 miles (14.5 km) from Exeter, 6 miles (9.7 km) from Dartmoor and 5 miles (8 km) from Torquay and Newton Abbott. The original cottage was supposedly built in the shape of a boat, with rooms 'fore and aft' and a rope ladder joining the ground floor to the upper deck - now replaced with modern stairs! Today it has been transformed into a delightful B&B by its owners. Unfortunately, due to the rooms, Minadab Cottage is unable to accommodate very young children. The cottage was originally built in the early 19th century as a home for Robert Young, as successful Commander in the British Royal Navy. It is said that a secret tunnel runs from the cottage's cobbled wine cellar to the beach. | | | | |
