Old Coastguard Hotel | The Old Coastguard Hotel is set in sub-tropical gardens leading to the sea, above the beautiful fishing village of Mousehole. Guests can enjoy unspoilt panoramic views of Mounts Bay, whilst still having excellent links to the A30. Set in grounds at the edge of the sea, many frequent visitors claim the views of Mounts Bay from the hotel are the best of any hotel in the United Kingdom. Mousehole is a vibrant Cornish community and remarkable unspoilt village. The south arm of the harbour dates to 400AD and was the embarkation point for pilgrims. Today it provides a perfect base from which to explore this delightful little land. It remains in the words of Dylan Thomas, The most beautiful village in England. All 14 rooms are en-suite with baths or showers, they are centrally heated with all modern facilities expected from a hotel of this calibre. Rooms are designed with guests comfort in mind, luxuriously decorated and furnished to offer the perfect setting for a truly relaxing break. Whether guests dine in the award-winning restaurant, in the sun lounge or outside on the garden terrace, they will discover that they share the same stylish and relaxed ambience, with incomparable views across Mounts Bay. Itself regarded as one of the most beautiful bays in Europe. The hotel prides itself on the use of fresh produce, sourced locally. With Newlyn on the doorstep, all the fish comes straight from the market, while the meat is supplied by a well known local butcher. The menus are contemporary and innovative which are frequently changed. They bake a choice of specialist breads daily, and the petit fours, ice creams and sorbets are created by our pastry chef. The light, informal atmosphere, smart service and fine food have led to sucess in several national award programmes. Glorious gardens flourish in Cornwalls mild climate and there are several, such as Trengwainton, within easy travelling distance. Outdoor activities include walking - the coastal footpath in this area is a wonder to visitors and locals alike. Whitesands Bay at Sennen, recognised as one of Cornwalls finest surfing beaches, which is twenty minutes away. There are several golf courses in the area, including Cape Cornwall Golf Club, worth a round for its fabulous views alone. Mousehole is a distinct and independant village steeped in history and customs. It is one of Cornwalls finest traditional fishing ports and retains its great character despite fishings decline. Mousehole lies on the western shores of Mounts Bay, a few miles south of Penzance. Tiers of cottages and houses climb the steep slopes above the sheltered bay of Mouseholes granite-walled harbour. Narrow streets and alleyways meander in and out of light and shade.
