The Longlands remains fiercely independent with no brewery or theme-pub chain to tell us how to run things. This means that we can choose the very best beers and wines for our bar, the freshest ingredients for our menus and individual furnishings for each of our rooms.

We are lucky enough to be right next to Tewitfield Locks on the Lancaster Canal, at the edge of a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Just a mile from junction 35 of the M6 motorway, we are perfectly placed for days out to the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales, the seaside at Morecambe, and the historic city of Lancaster.The Longlands is a privately owned freehouse offering excellent food and drink with comfortable accommodation and 6 self-catering cottages. It also caters for functions including weddings, christenings, funerals, birthday parties and conferences.

The restaurant is Longlands' pride and joy. As you would expect, as much as possible is sourced locally and luckily Burrows of Sliverdale and Port of Lancaster Smokehouse are found nearby, to name a few local champions. Everybody is welcome - large groups, children, romantic twosomes and people eating alone. The menu changes seasonally and there are fresh market specials everyday .
