Hatfield College | Hatfield College is situated in the heart of the City, in the shadow of the great Norman Cathedral and Heritage Site, and on the banks of the River Wear. It is a few hundred yards from all the facilities and amenities that Durham has to offer. We can offer accommodation ranging from 2-diamond rated single standard and en-suite rooms, to 4-diamond rated executive en-suite bedrooms ([pictured] the only ones within the University). Limited car parking is available on site. Hatfield College's recently refurbished Melville Building provides 22 twin/double executive-style en-suite bedrooms and two family rooms. These rooms have been awarded the "VisitBritain" 4-diamond rating, which confirms them as the best University accommodation available, moreover in a City-centre location with its own parking | | | | |

| | By Car From the South: drive north on the A1(M) and exit at Junction 62. Take the A690 signposted for Durham. Exit the motorway and follow the sign marked Durham City and Consett (this is a dual carriageway). After three miles at the first roundabout take the second main exit which crosses under a pedestrian footbridge and gives immediately in front of a magnificent view of the Cathedral, Castle and City. The road is downhill and at the bottom is another roundabout. Take the second exit left and travel up the slip road. At the top, turn left into the Market Place (road is signposted "Access Only"). Travel forward at the traffic lights into North Bailey. The road is narrow and uphill. After about 600 yards look for iron railings on the left - this is Hatfield College. Please check in at the Porters' Lodge at the Main Gate. From the North: drive south on the A1(M) and exit at Junction 62. Take the A690 signposted for Durham and Consett. Turn right at the roundabout and then follow directions as above. By Rail Regular train services travel from London and Edinburgh to Durham. The journey takes less than three hours from London, one and a half hours from Edinburgh and forty-five minutes from York. |
