Plough At Clifton Hampden, The

	This quintessential English Inn is situated 8 miles south of Oxford and 4 miles east of Abingdon. We are situated in the small village of Clifton Hampden, close to the River Thames. Our hotel dates from 1400 - timber beams, inglenook fireplaces and a thatched roof are just some of the original features. Our bar offers draught ales, fine wines, spirits and brandies and perhaps that special cocktail or two! Our intimate and cosy restaurants offer a varied menu, which include home-made food, fresh vegetables and vegetarian dishes. 8 en-suite bedrooms are available, all tastefully decorated and furnished, most with antiques. Many rooms have either a four-poster or half-poster bed. In addition to all of these creature comforts, all of our overnight guests are served a 'traditional' English cooked breakfast which is included in the room price. We are a totally non-smoking establishment, although smokers are welcome in our designated outside areas. The hotel restaurant is in the Michelin recommendation guide 2007.

	The restaurant is spacious, yet intimate and cosy. It offers a varied menu, which includes home-made food, fresh vegetables and vegetarian dishes. A la carte or light meals are also available. You are the guest, so if you prefer something special or different than our menu, just ask. We will try to accommodate your requirements. The menu is supported by a large selection of interesting wines from Australia, France, Italy and Spain. Menus and Wine Lists are subject to availability of produce meeting our strict standards. Our restaurant closes at 4pm on Sundays and our bar closes at 6pm, although rooms are still available. We do not allow children under 16 years in our bar or restaurant after 6pm daily. There are two dining rooms, namely 'The Lion's Den' which seats up to 16 people, this is a classic contemporary room which lends itself perfectly to private dining. The other dining room is 'The Sharks Fin' which is a little more traditional in its decor and seats up to 30 people. We also serve food within the bar area as it is non-smoking. Bar
