UK Horticulture and Gardening events

Queen's Nursing Institute (QNI) was formed in 1926 with a mission to generate funds for the recruitment and training of nurses and to give pension support to retiring nurses. In 1927 the National Gardens Scheme was conceived to raise money for the QNI. The objective of the movement was to persuade individuals to open gardens of quality, character and interest to the public for charity.

The Garden Scheme became independent from the QNI in 1980 with the formation of The National Gardens Scheme Charitable Trust. The current Patron of the independent charity is HRH The Prince of Wales. Since its inception, the philanthropic movement has raised over £45 million. Each year 3600 private gardens welcome visitors to an elegant ambience complemented by talks and tours, relaxing music and plants.

NGS also organises special events annually, such as Music in the Garden, Exclusive London Tours, Hampton Court Tours and Midsummer Night Concert.
