Oasis shot from obscurity to stardom in 1994, becoming one of Britain's most popular and critically acclaimed bands of the decade.
Formerly called Rain, (not be confused with the Liverpool band of the same name) the band consisted of Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs on guitar, drummer Tony McCaroll and bassist Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan. in 1992 Noel agreed to join the band as lead guitarist and main songwriter.
In May 1993 the new Oasis lineup drove to Glasgow to support 18 Wheeler at King Tut's Wah Wah Club. They played five songs that were enough to hypnotize watching Creation Records boss Alan McGee who offered them a contract on the spot.
On April 11th 1994, Oasis released their debut single, 'Supersonic'. More live shows followed, including a triumphant New York debut and promoters soon got used to the band breaking all records, exceeding even the wildest expectations.
