The Faulkner is accessed at the rear of the Lodge by its own private entrance. It has all of the comfort and facilities the discerning visitor of today has come to expect of 4 star accommodation.
The Faulkner is a ground floor holiday cottage and has a lounge with a small balcony and a dining kitchen.
One bedroom has a 5 ft bed which will convert into 2 singles and the other bedroom has a 6 ft bed which will also convert into 2 singles. They are comfortable divan beds with pocket sprung mattresses. Both bedrooms have a clock/radio alarm with an Ipod/Ipad docking station.
There are 2 toilet/shower rooms.
The Faulkner has a 38 inch TV with a 3-D viewing option and a Blueray player.
There is a shared free access to the laundry room which has a commercial washing machine and tumble dryer.
There is a large purpose built secure cycle store with bike stands and jetwash which will hold at least 20 bikes. There is plenty of space for drying outdoor clothes and cleaning and storing boots.
A welcome pack will greet guests on arrival. Also a starter pack will have soap, washing up liquids, dishwasher tablets and a black bin liner. You will need to replace these when used up.
No charge is made for WiFi access.
Dogs are accepted at a cost of £3 per night. They must be kept under control at all times - we are close to a public highway.
There is level access into the cottage but there are 3 steps from the hallway into the lounge area.
There is a large garden with plenty of outdoor furniture: tables, benches and umbrellas. There is a coal barbecue (no coals supplied). The river Wye can be reached from the Lodge over a stile - just 50 metres away.
The cottage has a south westerly aspect so benefits from the sun most of the day.
The pretty market town of Rhayader is 3.5 miles away and has the range of shops you would expect of a town of its size: Spar store, butcher, chemist, hardware store, gift shops, a newsagent, 3 hairdressers and a health food shop (The Old Swan) which sells fresh organic bread daily.
Guests are not short of choice for places to eat. There are 2 cafes in Rhayader and 11 pubs most of which serve food. The Halt Store, Post Office and Halt Café & Gardens is just across the car park from the Lodge where guests can buy a wide range of convenience products including groceries, news, lottery, fuel and beers, wines and spirits. The Halt Café & Gardens is open from 8.00 am till 5.30 pm.
There is much to see and do in the surrounding area. The Elan Valley is a must visit with its network of dams and reservoirs. The Wye Valley Walk is just across the river which runs at the back of the property and cycle paths and trails are on the doorstep. The Red Kite Centre is nearby and there is good fishing on the rivers Wye and Marteg and on Llyn Gwyn Lake jus
