The small town of Louisburgh in County Mayo is situated on the Bunowen River and is a charming base for exploring the region. The area has been designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty and therefore offers boundless opportunities to explore the spectacular countryside that surrounds the town. Louisburgh boasts three Blue Flag beaches, Old Head, Bertra and Carramore, which makes this area ideal for family holidays. The mountains of Sheaffrey and Mweelrea are nearby and Clare Island can be reached by ferry from Roonagh Pier. Clare Island is one of the inhabited islands in Clew Bay and on a clear day there are magnificent views across to Connemara and Achill. This is a fabulous location and there are activities and attractions to suit everyone to make this an unforgettable holiday destination at any time of the year.

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

Lovely comfortable house. Very well situated near beaches and scenery areas. Enjoyed our stay very much.
Ms Mcmenamin, Dublin 16,
February 2013
