Known by this unusual name since the second Civil War of 1648, these two adjoining cottages were originally a village smithy prior to being completely restored to form lovely holiday cottages on the edge of the village. Enjoying views to the local countryside they are just a short stroll from the village centre which has a general store, takeaways and 2 pubs. Just a mile from Biddulph Grange Gardens (NT) and within 0.25 miles of the Peak District National Park, Congleton, Little Moreton Hall (NT) and the antique shops of Leek. An excellent touring base as the counties of Derbyshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire are all in easy reach. Within 15 miles are pottery museums, Trentham Gardens Monkey Park and Waterworld. Alton Towers and Splash Landings are 20 miles and the houses of Chatsworth, Haddon, Shugborough and Sudbury Halls are within an hour’s drive. Watersports and fishing, golf and horse riding are within 5 miles. Shop and pub 0.25 miles.
