Set within the Upper Wharfedale valley between Kettlewell and Buckden, this idyllic National Park village is a greatplace to start your exploration of this magnificent area. Much of Upper Wharfdale is owned by the National Trust and has a rich natural heritage with dry stone walls, beautiful old barns, abundant meadows and woodlands. The area is regarded as one of the foremost walking areas in the Dales, with the challenging Dales Way path passing close by. Buckden Pike is accessed easily with gentle pathways along the riverside. The village of Starbotton is made up of a group of stone-built dwellings, and has at its heart the local pub where fine ales and good food are served. The hit film Calendar Girls was filmed in this area and at other nearby locations. With such a diversity of scenery including waterfalls, caves, interesting and historic market towns, this is a perfect base from which to enjoy the beautiful Dales.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

A peaceful, quiet holiday in a beautiful part of the world. The cottage had everything we needed to make it a stress free break for us. Even had Play Station for kids!
Mr Mastin, Gravesend, Kent
October 2013

,House is lovely, and being able to walk straight out of the house and up onto the hills was great. It felt very luxurious and well designed. Also very cosy, bit sad there was no need to light a fire in the fabulous fireplace! Nice selection of DVDs if the weather had been poor, but even the weather was fine.
Mrs Chalkley, York, North Yorkshire
September 2013

,Lovely furnishings, cosy and relaxed. Very good interior design. Pantry was brilliant. Open fire and settees best quality/comfort we've had yet in a rental cottage. Lovely and warm and superbly located.
Ms Willis, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
January 2013

,Lovely warm and cosy cottage with open fire, close to walks and amazing scenery. The perfect relaxing break we were looking for. Extremely friendly people.
Mr Burford, Wisbech, Lincolnshire
December 2012
