The nearest beach to Water Meadows is Torre Abbey Sands, a large expanse of golden sand that is family friendly and has the Blue Flag award. Cockington village, one of the oldest settlements in the area, has a tea room in one of the original thatched cottages along with another caf? in Cockington Court, which also houses craft exhibitions and demonstrations. The medieval monastery Torre Abbey has recently been refurbished and provides excellent insight into Torquay's history as well as housing some fabulous exhibitions.
