Rock itself is located in North Cornwall on the north side of the Camel Estuary across from the fishing port of Padstow. It s name comes from the local quarry where the rocks were used as ballast by sailing ships which had unloaded their cargo across the river. The village has many shops including a bakery newsagent and post office a delicatessen and a small but excellent supermarket. Guests will be spoilt by a variety of good restaurants and pubs in Rock or nearby Padstow. Much to see and do: Surfing at Polzeath rent a wetsuit on the beach and have a go. Take the ferry over to the historic fishing port of Padstow and visit Prideaux Place. Sightseeing at St Enodoc Church recovered from the sand dunes and final resting place of Sir John Betjemen. Walk out to the Rumps to look for seals or consult the OS map for a huge variety of local scenic walks. Bike along the Camel Trail on the disused railway line to Wadebridge and Bodmin.
