The Mates House is a recently renovated 15th Century cottage, tastefully presented and retaining many of its original features including original 17th Century fireplace. It is furnished and equipped to a very good standard and is an ideal retreat for couples or families looking for a comfortable base in the very heart of the town.

LOCATION The property is in Higher Street, next door to Dartmouth's oldest pub (The Cherub Inn) and just a few metres level walk from the town's array of boutiques, galleries, restaurants and tea rooms, as well as the picturesque River Dart.  Blackpool Sands beach is just a 5-10 minute drive away whilst Woodlands Theme Park is just 3 miles outside of Dartmouth.

ENTRANCE The cottage is accessed directly from Higher Street into a small oak-floored hallway, off which are the kitchen and sitting room, and stairs to the first floor.

SITTING ROOM A cosy lounge area with very attractive 17th Century feature fireplace, oak flooring, original sash window, double leather sofa (with recliner), two armchairs, flatscreen TV with Freesat, DVD player and CD hi-fi.

KITCHEN/DINING ROOM A very well equipped Shaker-style kitchen presented to a good standard with oak flooring, a range of fitted wall and floor units, and appliances including halogen hob, integrated fridge, microwave oven and washing machine.  Round dining table with four chairs.

BEDROOMS On the first floor is a lovely master bedroom with metal framed double bed, fitted wardrobe, period fireplace and flatscreen TV with Freeview.  The second bedroom is a twin with two metal-framed single beds, combination wardrobe and period fireplace.  All duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels provided.

SHOWER ROOM Very well presented shower room with electric shower, wash hand basin, w.c., heated tower rail, extractor fan and mirror.

PARKING* A seasonal parking pass is provided for the Mayors Avenue car park from 29th March 2014 for 6 months.


OTHER INFORMATION Electric heating throughout with immersion heater supplying hot water.  One large or two small dogs permitted.  Smoking is not allowed.  Telephone and wireless broadband internet available.
