Penny's Place
The farm is set in beautiful countryside on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors in Ryedale with many farmyard animals including goats (Disc the biggest billy you are likely to see!), poultry, pet Dexter cattle (a bull who thinks he's a horse!),coloured horses, Haflinger & Appaloosa horses, pot-bellied pig, friendly farm cats and dogs, ewes and lambs.
Pets are welcome and we have a farm walk with abundant wildlife including foxes hares, deer, curlews, partridge, herons, skylarks and pheasants and a chance to see green energy being grown - our short coppice willows.
Some of the buildings on the farm are up to 300 years old and swallows return to them each year flying in and out of the buildings all summer long. The farm has an environmental friendly policy to encourage wildlife and our animals graze on land that is free from chemical sprays and fertilisers. Our newly installed wind turbine provides most of our electricity exporting the surplus to the grid.
The area is a walker’s paradise and has many abbeys, castles, museums and country pubs serving high quality food. Scarborough, Whitby and the historic city of York are within easy reach.
The bedroom has fitted wardrobes and clock/radio alarm; en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, heated towel rail; sitting room with remote control LCD TV with freeview and built-in DVD player, wood burning stove, and dining area tastefully furnished in pine and cane; small well-equipped kitchen (including microwave, fridge & full sized cooker).
The cottage is double glazed throughout and the hote water and heating are provided by our eco friendly biomasss boiler with burns wood chip from our short coppice willow.
Outside there is plenty of offroad parking and the cottage has its own garden furniture.
Two pets welcome.
Prices include wi-fi, heating, electricit, linen, wood and towels.
