The village has a good range of small shops, cafes and pubs serving food, and just 17 miles away lies the historic cathedral city of Durham, whilst cosmopolitan Newcastle with its excellent shopping, great architecture and lively nightlife is only 24 miles’ drive. The Beamish Living History Museum, Barnard Castle and Killhope Lead Mining Museum are among the fascinating visitor attractions nearby. Shop and pub within 300 yards.
