The surrounding area offers a wealth of delights: as well as a lovely sandy beach and excellent pub restaurant, nearby Winterton is home to a nature reserve with a 6 mile circular walk affording sightings of the local seal colony whilst at Potter Heigham (4 miles) visitors will find sailing, fishing and day boat hire and Wroxham offers riverboat trips and plenty of waterside pubs and restaurants. Quaint market towns, craft centres, a steam railway, Bewilderwood (a must for children) and Great Yarmouth for family fun (10 miles) are all within an easy drive as is the medieval city of Norwich with its cathedral, castle, cobbled streets, gallerieis, museums and excellent shopping opportunities.
