In the glorious country setting of the South Hams, this imaginatively converted former Methodist chapel lies close to the local beaches of Mothecombe (footpath access) and the award winning beaches at Bigbury-on-Sea and Thurlestone. Modbury – a gem for antique hunters – and Ivybridge – southern gateway to Dartmoor – are about 5 miles away and close by is Totnes, the historic capital of Devon, from where visitors can enjoy cruises up the River Dart, the loveliest river in England. Dartmouth, with its bustling streets, shops and quayside, and Salcombe, a haven for sailors and water sports enthusiasts, are well worth exploring as are magnificent Saltram House and Coleton Fishacre (both NT), whilst the myriad attractions of Plymouth offer a good day out. Miles of scenic coastal and estuary footpaths and cycle trails beckon, and children will also enjoy Sorley Tunnel, Woodlands Adventure Park and Pennywell Farm.
