Exmoor Gate House | In a pretty wooded valley between the Brendon and Blackdown Hills, an idyllic setting affording stunning views over the surrounding countryside, these two attractive properties offer a delightful holiday base. Set adjoining each other, they both enjoy access to a gym, sauna and excellent children's play facilities whilst Exmoor Gate House additionally boasts exclusive use of an indoor heated swimming pool. Just an easy scenic drive away lie both the county town of Taunton, with its cricket ground, shopping and restaurants, and Bampton, a Georgian market town on the fringes of Exmoor National Park's seductive landscape. Here, miles of footpaths and bridleways offer riding, walking and cycling enthusiasts opportunities for spotting rare Exmoor ponies and prolific red deer. Visitors will find an animal adventure park at Watchet and traditional seaside fare at Porlock Weir, Minehead and the resorts of Lynmouth and Lynton (famously linked by a cliff railway). Arlington Court, Knightshayes Court, Dunster Castle and Watersmeet (all N.T.), the West Somerset Railway, the Valley of the Rocks and Badgworthy Water are among nearby attractions and the rugged grandeur of Dartmoor lies within easy reach. Golf, riding, cycling and tennis are all available locally. Good pub serving food ¼ mile, shops/P.O. 1½ miles. | | | | |
