(The Old Course at St Andrews is only about 20 minutes' drive). Cycle hire is available locally, the coastal path affords fine scenic walking, and riding and clay pigeon shooting are found nearby. Kellie Castle and Hill of Tarvit (NTS) are close by and Edinburgh is just over an hour's drive.
