Babe

Adaptation of Dick King-Smith's children's story about a talented piglet's career as a sheep-dog. Produced by George Miller, no fewer than 48 porkers were used for the part of Babe, the displaced pig who is taken under the wing of the farm sheepdog, and with the help of his oddball animal friends, enters the annual sheepdog trials. Non-intrusive use of computer graphics to make the creatures talk, fully retains their real characters while at the same time humanising them just enough to make them accessible. It is an irresistible concoction sure to melt the hardest of hearts, especially those singing mice who present arguably the definitive version of "Blue Moon". So with the kids spellbound and adults marvelling at the effects, all will be lunging for the Kleenex at the end when Farmer Hoggett (James Cromwell) tearfully tells his porcine chum, "That'll do pig, that'll do".
