Hoop Dreams
A 25th anniversary rerelease of Steve James, Peter Gilbert and Frederick Marx's Oscar-winning documentary, which charts the American dream through the eyes of two teenagers from inner-city Chicago, whose future lies miles away in an affluent suburb of Illinois. Arthur Agee and William Gates are high school students, whose principal talents lie on the basketball court. During term time, the young men travel to St Joseph High School preparatory school in Westchester to play under a legendary high school coach, who could be their ticket to NBA glory. Facing pressure on all sides because of their race and background, Arthur and William dribble around obstacles that life flings in their path to unite their families and prove their worth.
