A writer experiences a profound reawakening in a gently paced road trip adapted from the best-selling Native American novel by Kent Nerburn. Writer Kent (Christopher Sweeney) receives a mysterious telephone call to meet an old man named Dan (Dave Bald Eagle) on a remote reservation. His curiosity is piqued and Kent travels across the Great Plains to Dan's home. The old man gives him a shoe box of notes, which the elder hopes can be shaped into a book about the Native American perspective on modern American culture. Despite his best efforts, Kent struggles to distil Dan's thoughts into a coherent text and he seeks help from Dan's granddaughter Wenonah (Roseanne Supernault) and good friend Grover (Richard Ray Whitman) to better understand life on a poverty-stricken reservation.
