Hellraiser
Based on Clive Barker's novella The Hellbound Heart, horror thriller Hellraiser opened in cinemas in 1987 and gained a cult following. The popularity of chief antagonist Pinhead (Doug Bradley) and his Cenobite brethren spawned a series of bloodthirsty sequels and a new chapter, Hellraiser: Judgment, is scheduled for release in 2017. To mark the 30th anniversary of the original film, Barker's picture returns to selected cinemas this weekend. Frank Cotton (Andrew Robinson) buys a puzzle box in Morocco but doesn't unlock the trinket's dark secret until he has returned home. Solving the conundrum unleashes hooks and chains that tear him limb from limb. Subsequently, Frank's brother Larry (Andrew Robinson) and his wife Julia (Clare Higgins) move into Frank's old home. Julia had an affair with Frank before his death and she discovers his corpse in the attic. Determined to restore him to his handsome prime, she agrees to lure strangers back to the house so Frank can be restored by their freshly spilt blood.
