The Boy And The Beast (Bakemono No Ko)
The lord of the Beast Kingdom prepares to retire and must find a worthy successor. He names two potential heirs: Iozen (voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji), who everyone expects to ascend the throne, and lazy loner Kumatetsu (Koji Yakusho). The lord dispatches Kumatetsu on a quest to find a disciple in the hope that this will inspire the beast to greatness ahead of the duel of succession. Flanked by a companion Tatara (Yo Oizumi), Kumatetsu visits the mortal realm and encounters a nine-year-old orphan called Ren (Aoi Miyazaki), who has recently lost his mother and now lives on the streets. Ren agrees to accompany Kumatetsu back to the Beast Kingdom where the boy is rechristened Kyuta and begins his arduous training under a reluctant mentor.
