Stockholm, My Love
Documentary smudges into fiction in director Mark Cousins' love letter to the Swedish capital. Alva Achebe (Neneh Cherry) is blessed with a rich cultural heritage - she has an African father and a Swedish mother. She has settled in Stockholm, where she has become fascinated with the impact of buildings on everyday lives. Haunted by a devastating car accident 12 months earlier, which has robbed her of her independence and freedom, Alva prepares to deliver a lecture on the capital's architecture. Instead, she abandons her duties to wander around the city, exploring buildings, bridges and arts venues. This haphazard tour leads to the site of her tragedy, where she must confront her demons and begin the slow and painful journey back to recovery.
