What We Do in the Shadows
Jemaine Clement and Taiki Waititi co-write, co-direct and star in this mockumentary about a group of vampires, who allow a camera crew into their lair to witness their decidedly unglamorous night-to-night existence. Viago (Waititi) is a 379-year-old vampire, who lives in the suburbs of Wellington with fellow bloodsuckers Vladislav (Clement), Deacon (Jonathan Brugh) and Petyr (Ben Fransham) - the latter an 8,000-year-old creature of the night, who lives in a stone coffin in the basement. Deacon's human helper Jackie (Jackie Van Beek), who has been promised immortality for her services, delivers two unsuspecting human sacrifices and Petyr sinks his fangs into university student Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer), who becomes the latest addition to the nest. Unfortunately, Nick is rather indiscreet about his newfound fanged status and he introduces human best friend Stu (Stuart Rutherford) to the other vampires. They welcome Stu with open arms but the presence of a mortal causes friction with Anton (Rhys Darby), the leader of the local pack of werewolves.
