The Last Waltz
A re-issue of Martin Scorsese's 1978 documentary to neatly coincide with the release of the director's latest film, Hugo. The Last Waltz is a concert film celebrating the influence and the impact of the rock group The Band, who played a farewell concert on November 25, 1976 in San Francisco. On the night at the Winterland Ballroom, the music pioneers were joined on stage by special guests including Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood and Neil Young. Scorsese's cinematic portrait intercuts these concert performances with interviews with members of The Band, reflecting on their successes and what the future might hold.
