''Veritas? ''What is 'veritas'?'' Pontius Pilate asks of his wife as he struggles to decide whether or not to crucify Christ. It's a difficult question to answer about Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

Bottom Line

So where, in all this conflict, is ''Veritas''? It would be impossible not to react to The Passion of the Christ; the impact of those reactions is harder to predict. One can only hope those who see the film are closer to enlightenment, if not to truth, than either Gibson, or his critics, give them credit for.
